Bristol Hotel Salzburg

The traditional 5-Star-Hotel Bristol is situated in the centre of the festival city, between the Mirabell Gardens and Mozart's residence ? and within 5 minutes walking distance to the famous ?Getreidegasse?. The ground stone of the current hotel was laid by Archbishop Paris Lodron around 1619. In the centuries that followed, the building served as seat for various aristocracy. Towards the end of the 19th century it received its current apperarance. In 1892 the city of Salzburg, which then owned the property, opened the first hotel in the Mozart city offering electric power. The whole of the old town on this side of the Salzach river was supplied with electricity from here. Around 95 years ago the hotel came into the possession of the Hubner Family, who still run it today in the third generation as one of the few privately run hotels in Salzburg.
