Hotel Falster is situated in Nykoebing which is the main town on Falster and which was founded way back in the end of the 1100s in connection with the construction of the castle Nykoebing Slot. The castle served as a dower house for queens who were so to speak superfluous in Copenhagen. One of them was King Christian the 4ths mother who ruled over Lolland-Falster until she died in 1631. King Christian the 5ths wife Charlotte Amalie lived in Nykoebing Slot as a widow for 15 years and in 1716 the Russian Tsar Peter the Great visited the castle but he would rather dine at the local inn.
270 years after the Tsars visit to the town Nykoebing got its new hotel. Hotel Falster which right from the start has been family-run. This means that the guests should feel that they are welcome no matter whether they spend the night- eat or hold a meeting in the hotel. The target of the hotel is simply that the guests should feel that the hotel is their second home. Naturally this has to do with bricks and menus but first and foremost with the staff which creates an unpretentious and relaxed atmosphere in the hotel.
Hotel Falster is an obvious starting point for a cycling holiday in the South Sea Islands. The relatively flat landscape makes it an ideal area to cycle in. You are all the time close to the sea and can experience the fascinating mosaic of water and land in blue and green colour nuances.
