The 4 Star Spalentor Hotel Basel enjoys a central location in the Old Town of Basel opposite the historical Spalentor- a 15th-century gateway to Basel and one of only 3 remaining today. The hotel is only 7 kms from Basel Airport and close to the main SBB station as well as the main conference and conveention center Messe Basel which is 2 km away. A conservative exterior disguises an interior that is modern- sleek and very comfortable. Each of the spacious- comfortable rooms has Free High Speed WIFI- Air conditioning- Flat screen TV with satellite channels- DVD Player- Work desk- Coffee machine and a MiniBar. The en suite Bathrooms have large Walk-in Showers- Hairdryer- Bathrobes- Slippers and complimentary toiletry amenities. Guests have free use of bicycles and there is a Fitness room and a Games room complete with Billiards-Darts and a Soccer table. There is also a Play room for children. The hotel does not have a restaurant but there is a Breakfast room serving a Buffet Breakfast daily. There is a wide variety of dining options within close proximity of the hotel. The Spalentor does have a bar and a very pleasant garden area that is also home to an old Chestnut tree. There is one meeting room that can cater for up to 12 guests. The hotel has limited secure parking at an additional fee and there is parking available nearby at the City University Hospital. The hotel has a charging point for electric cars. Guests at The Spalentor are entitled to a complimentary BaselCard giving free transport on buses and trams throughout their stay. Additional Information - Children age 2 and under stay free in the room with parents and in existing bedding. Children age 3 and over will be considered an adult and pay 18 CHF per night included within the rate.
