Hotel will be closed for renovations from May 1, 2016 to Nov 13, 2016 (re-opening date November 14, 2016)\n\nThe Strand is located on Strand Road, close to the Yangon River in the main commercial and diplomatic district. It is a 30 minute drive from Yangon International Airport and within easy reach of the city main attractions.\n\nBuilt in 1901, as one of the group of grand hotels, The Strand Hotel is recognized as a national landmark. Recently renovated to reflect the epochal era of the 1920 and 1930, the hotel re opened in November 1993. The three storey, Victorian hotel is a model of colonial charm, from its colonnaded exterior to the marble floored lobby lounge, from the rattan furniture to the chandeliers and the black lacquered ceiling fans. The 31spacious suites are located on the two upper floors and serviced by a team of butlers, 24 hours a day.\n \nIdeally located in the main commercial and diplomatic district, 3 Km North West of Shwedagon Pagoda (Erected more than 2500 years ago, Shwedagon Pagoda is a magnificent, shimmering spire of gold rising 99.3 m) and 1.5 Km North West of Bogyoke market (a Colonial market which comprises of 1800 shops of gems, jewellery, paintings and traditional arts and crafts) The Strand Hotel stands for all that were wondrous and opulent in a bygone era.\n------------------------------------\nPlease note that, credit cards traveler checks and foreign currencies are not accepted anywhere in Myanmar.
